5. 4 “Golden” Criteria for Choosing a Gearbox

- Motor Power: The gearbox must be compatible with the motor power (0.75kW, 1.5kW, 2.2kW…). Note: Installing a small gearbox for a high-power motor will immediately break the gears.
- Gear Ratio: Formula:
Motor Speed (1400 RPM) / Desired Output Speed = Ratio. - Mounting Type: Foot-mounted (B3) or Flange-mounted (B5)? Solid shaft or Hollow shaft?
- Service Factor: If the machine operates 24/7 or experiences shock loads, a safety factor > 1.5 should be chosen.
6. Installation and Maintenance Guide
For a gearbox to last 5-10 years, the installation process is crucial.

- Base/Mounting Feet: Must be securely fixed on a flat, sturdy, vibration-free surface.
- Alignment: The motor shaft and gearbox shaft must be perfectly aligned (if connected via a coupling). Misalignment will quickly destroy the bearings.
- Lubricant/Oil:
- First time: Change oil after 100-200 hours of run-in period.
