WPDX 60 Worm Gearbox

The WPDX 60 worm gearbox is a premium product line with a right-angle input and output shaft design, delivering efficient speed reduction and superior torque. Combined with a direct mount to a 3-phase electric motor, it delivers powerful operational performance. With high durability, the product is an optimal choice for industrial and civil drive systems. Let’s learn more detailed information about this gearbox product line with Thanh Thai Motor.

General Design of the WPDX 60 Worm Gearbox

The WPDX 60 gearbox is designed with right-angle input and output shafts, making it convenient for installation in mechanical systems with limited space. The housing is made of solid cast iron, sturdy and capable of withstanding large impacts and mechanical vibrations.

The worm gearbox combines directly and synchronously with the electric motor to form a complete gear motor, optimizing transmission capability. The surface of the gearbox is coated with anti-rust electrostatic paint, protecting the equipment from environmental influences, chemicals, or high humidity.

Internal Structure of the WPDX Worm Gearbox

The internal structure of the WPDX 60 consists of the following main components:

• Worm shaft: Made of hardened steel, wear-resistant, ensuring powerful and long-term stable torque transmission.
• Worm gear: Made of high-grade copper alloy, helping to increase friction capability and reduce wear during operation.
• Bearings: Help the drive system rotate smoothly, reducing noise and vibration.
• Lubricating oil: Pre-filled in the housing to help the equipment run smoothly, reducing heat and friction.
• The transmission mechanism of the WPDX 60 gearbox ensures precise meshing between the worm shaft and the worm gear, thereby effectively reducing input speed and increasing output force.

Specifications of the WPDX 60 Worm Gearbox

Below are the detailed specifications of the WPDX 60 worm gearbox with various gear ratios, capable of being coupled with a 3-phase electric motor 0.25kW 0.34HP, or 3-phase electric motor 0.37kW 0.5HP.

Applications of the WPDX 60 Worm Gearbox

The WPDX 60 gearbox is suitable for many practical applications in industry and civil sectors, specifically:

• Manufacturing industry: Used for packaging machines, stamping machines, conveyors, and belt conveyors.
• Food industry: Applied in mixers, agitators, filling machines, etc.
• Mechanical engineering industry: Used for lathes, CNC machines, and lifting systems.
• Civil applications: Installed in car washers and industrial rolling doors.
• Construction industry: Suitable for hoisting winches, concrete mixing plants, and steel rolling mills,…

Guide on How to Add Oil to a Worm Gearbox

To ensure safety and efficiency, the process of adding or changing new oil for the WPDX 60 gearbox must be carried out according to the following 5 steps:

• Step 1 – Prepare materials and ensure safety: First, you must completely disconnect the power source connected to the motor to ensure absolute safety (it should be done when the gearbox has cooled down or is only slightly warm). Prepare tools (wrenches, pouring funnels, catch trays) and the correct specialized industrial gear lubricant (typically ISO VG 320 viscosity grade).
• Step 2 – Drain the old lubricating oil (For periodic maintenance): Place the catch tray underneath, use a wrench to open the oil drain plug located at the lowest position (at the bottom of the gearbox) to let dirty oil and metal filings flow out. Wait until the old oil has completely drained, use a cloth to clean the plug mouth, and tighten the drain plug back up.(Note: If it is a newly purchased device and you only need to top up oil, you can skip this step).
• Step 3 – Proceed to add new lubricating oil: Locate the oil filling plug (breather plug) at the highest point on top of the gearbox housing and remove it. Place the funnel into the hole and begin pouring new lubricating oil in slowly to prevent oil backflow.
• Step 4 – Check and adjust the standard oil level: While adding oil, you must continuously observe the oil sight glass (bullseye) on the side of the device. Stop adding immediately when the oil level rises to reach the exact center (1/2) position of the sight glass.
• Step 5 – Clean the surface and complete the process: Use a clean cloth to wipe away any excess oil spilled on the cast iron housing. Finally, tighten the oil filling plug on top of the gearbox securely to ensure tightness, preventing dust or moisture from getting inside. At this point, the device is ready to be connected to electricity and operate again.

The WPDX 60 worm gearbox with a right-angle design helps machinery operate stably in packaging lines or production conveyors while ensuring superior mechanical durability under heavy vibration impacts. This is a key power transmission device that helps optimize output torque for any modern industrial system.
