Why can Cycloid gear motors withstand shock loads and impact forces much better than conventional gearboxes?
Thanks to the roller and cycloid disc drive principle. Unlike conventional meshing gearboxes (which only contact 1 – 2 teeth at a time), the Cycloidal Gearbox has 30% to 50% of the teeth engaging simultaneously at any given time. This even force distribution helps the Cycloid reducer handle momentary overloads well, making it less prone to tooth breakage or chipping during sudden load jams.
Do small-capacity Cycloidal Gearboxes use grease or lubricating oil, and when do they need to be replenished?
Most small-capacity Cycloid reducers are pre-lubricated with high-grade industrial grease and are completely sealed. This series does not require periodic oil changes like large gearboxes, keeping the machine clean and free from oil leakage. You only need to maintain and replace with new grease after approximately 5,000 to 8,000 hours of continuous operation.
Why do Cycloid gear motors of this series emit a slight squealing sound and feel slightly warm when first operated compared to other types of gearboxes?
This is a normal operating characteristic of the Cycloidal gear mechanism. Due to the very large contact area between the disc and the rollers, the initial friction is higher, leading to slight heat generation and producing a characteristic mechanical squeal. After a running-in period (running-in for several dozen hours), the mating surfaces become smooth, and the machine will run quieter and cooler.
