WPDX 70 Worm Gearbox

The WPDX 70 Worm Gearbox is a product line designed with perpendicular input and output shafts, providing smooth, stable transmission and effectively increasing torque for the motor. With a sturdy design directly mounted to a 3-phase electric motor, durable cast iron housing, and adaptability to various working environments, let’s explore the detailed structure of this gearbox and its applications in conveyor systems, industrial machinery, and automated production equipment with Thanh Thai Motor.

General design of the WPDX 70 Worm Gearbox

The WPDX 70 gearbox belongs to the worm gearbox series, featuring perpendicular input and output shafts to help optimize transmission efficiency in limited spaces. The housing is made of solid cast iron, offering good load-bearing capacity, high heat dissipation, and vibration resistance.

The worm gear unit combines directly with an electric motor to form a complete gear motor, providing high efficiency in drive systems that require reduced rotational speed and increased torque.

Internal structure of the WPDX worm gearbox

• Worm shaft: Manufactured from high-strength alloy steel, heat-treated for wear resistance, ensuring superior durability in harsh working environments.
• Worm gear: Made of bronze alloy, featuring low friction, helping convert torque stably and increase service life.
• Transmission mechanism: The worm shaft and worm gear mesh perfectly, forming a drive system that effectively reduces rotational speed and increases output pulling force.
• Bearings, oil seals: High quality, oil leak-resistant, with good heat and friction resistance.
• Oil filler and breather holes: Smart design for easy maintenance and long-term stable operation.

Guide on how to add oil to the worm gearbox

Below is the easiest-to-remember and easiest-to-perform gearbox oil filling and changing procedure:

• Step 1 – Disconnect power and drain old oil: Completely disconnect the power source to ensure safety. Place a catch tray under the equipment base, open the drain plug at the bottom of the gearbox to completely remove all old oil and metal debris. After draining thoroughly, tighten the drain plug securely. (Note: Skip the draining step when adding oil to a new gearbox).
• Step 2 – Proceed to add new oil: Remove the oil filler plug (breather plug) located at the highest position on top of the gearbox. Place a funnel into the hole mouth and slowly pour specialized gear lubricating oil inside.
• Step 3 – Adjust the level via the oil sight glass: While pouring oil, pay attention to observe the sight glass on the side of the gearbox. Stop filling as soon as the oil level reaches the exact middle position of the glass.

The WPDX 70 worm gearbox line with a solid cast iron housing not only withstands heavy loads but also has very good natural heat dissipation capacity, protecting internal parts such as bearings and oil seals from the intrusion of dust and environmental agents.
